As it turns out, you can. Using Epic Games Launcher, you can transfer your game files to another location without wasting your internet bandwidth, and most importantly, your time. Here’s how to do it.

Why Move Installed Games to Another Drive?

There are many reasons why you would want to move Epic Games titles to another directory on your PC. Maybe you’re replacing your storage drive and want to transfer all the data before the upgrade. Or you just want to move the game files from your hard drive to an SSD, to get faster loading times and better performance.

Even if you accidentally download a game to the wrong location, you can easily fix your mistake by moving them to the right folder. It’s a lot easier than it sounds.

Moving Epic Games Titles to a Different Location

Although Epic Games Launcher has no official option to migrate game files between drives, you can still achieve similar results with a workaround. Follow the steps below to get started.

First, head over to the installed game’s location, usually C:\Program Files\Epic Games. Then, move the game folder to a different location on your computer.

Epic Games will automatically remove the game from your list of downloaded games. Launch Epic Games Launcher and switch to the Library tab to view all the available games. Click on the game card in the library to download the game.

Next, Epic Games Launcher will ask you for the installation location; select the folder where you want to store the game files.

When the progress bar reaches three to four percent, pause the download. Quit the launcher (from the taskbar) and select Exit when it prompts you to cancel your active downloads.

Now, copy the backed-up game files and move them to the new installation location. Launch Epic Games Launcher again and resume the download. The launcher will now start verifying the game files you just copied; it may also download new files if there are any.

Once the file verification is complete, Epic Games Launcher will add the game to the list of installed games on your PC.

Managing Games Using Epic Games Launcher

For gamers who like to keep their computer organized, sometimes, the default download locations may be unsatisfactory. With Epic Games Launcher, you can rest assured even if your files are stored in the wrong location.
